From March 3 to 24, 2025, the performance collective Nomadic Minutes was a guest at Schloss Wiepersdorf as part of a group scholarship. At an event on March 23, they gave an insight into their current project, the performance “To Mom, I want to ...”.

“Nomadic Minutes” works in the fields of theater, dance, philosophy and translation and moves artistically and communicatively between the cultures of China and Germany. CAO Kefei, ZHOU Niannian, ZHANG Deng and LIU ShiYu are part of the collective. They were born in China in four different decades, live and work in Germany, are active in artistic creation and cultural exchange between the two continents. “To Mom, I want to ...” is a co-creation with author and playwright Jiayun Zhuang, who lives in China and the USA.

In “To Mom, I want to ...”, the group focuses on their relationships with their mothers and explores the interaction between their diaspora experiences in Germany and their feelings towards their motherland. The play explores how individuals continuously overcome temporal and physical boundaries, information asymmetries and socio-cultural differences between their home and host societies. The production is supported by Theatre YOUNG Shanghai and Ballhaus Ost in Berlin and will premiere in both cities in 2025.
