ART IN A CONFLICTED WORLD

As part of their three-month online residency, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, six artists and authors from Great Britain, Ukraine and Russia are working on a joint publication on the topic Art in a Conflicted World. The process is accompanied by lectures and panel discussions.

Nikita Kadan and Jessica Zychowicz in conversation 

On 1 December at 5 pm (CET) we will stream the conversation between artist Nikita Kadan and curator Jessica Zychowicz about his new series Mutilated Myth with large-format charcoal drawings and a sculpture in which he refers to pictures from the Lviv Progroms 1941 and drawings and texts by the author Bruno Schulz.

Artist Phillip Zach, Schloss Wiepersdorf fellow 2020, talked about deserts, caves, concrete, exit strategies, Brandenburg, and L.A. with curator and director of the Kunstverein München, Maurin Dietrich.

 

REVIEW

 BETTINE / group fellowship

At the beginning of October, BETTINE worked together in the studio house of the castle for ten days on a group fellowship of the Cultural Foundation Schloss Wiepersdorf, before stays on site had to be cancelled due to Corona. The group, which has been working together since 2008, designs book, illustration and exhibition projects, and investigates how content can be told in an innovative way in terms of visual form.


Elke Erb. Im sprachlichen Spiegel
Colloquium & Podcast

In October, connoisseurs and companions of Elke Erb—Ulrike Draesner, Annett Gröschner, Bert Papenfuß, Steffen Popp, Gottfried Röszler, Brigitte Oleschinski and Maren Jäger— came together for a colloquium at Schloss Wiepersdorf to read Erbs' poems and talk about her work. The audio recording of the event (in German) is now available online. A cooperation of Haus für Poesie and Cultural Foundation Schloss Wiepersdorf. The event was supported by Brandenburgischer Literaturrat e.V.

Journalist Katrin Schumacher, who recorded the event on site, talked about Elke Erb and the Georg Büchner Prize in the weekly literature program MDR KULTUR Unter Büchern on October 31, 2020.
