Published between 1786 and 1827 by Friedrich Justin Bertuch in Weimar, the Journal of Luxury and Fashion was not only Germany’s first illustrated magazine but also its first regularly appearing fashion periodical. Yet its scope extended far beyond fashion. In a groundbreaking blend of text and image, it reported not only on the latest women’s and men’s fashions from Paris, London, Vienna, Italy, and major German cities and spa resorts, but also served as a lifestyle magazine.

Illustrated evening lecture with Dr. Barbara Steingießer, curator at the Goethe Museum Düsseldorf / Anton and Katharina Kippenberg Foundation.

The literary scholar and Wiepersdorf fellow Tabea Lamberti is working on her current research project on this reception of Romanticism and will present Wolf's examination of Romanticism. The lecture will be accompanied by selected text passages that make Wolf's “projection space of Romanticism” tangible.

The public will also have the opportunity to see works of art by Paula Müller and Frauke Eckhardt in the open studios.

The café in the Orangery is open as usual on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Group fellowship: MUSETHICA

In June, the Musethica project visited Brandenburg for the first time. The Beija-flor String Quartet from Austria and the Ensemble Finale from Israel spent an intensive week in Wiepersdorf and throughout the region. They were accompanied by tutors Konstanze von Gutzeit (cello) and Avri Levitan (viola). During the week, the musicians gave 19 concerts in social institutions and three public concerts. Musethica writes about it: „All of the institutions visited—including integrated daycare centers, senior residences in Jüterbog and Herzberg (Elster), the Luckau-Duben correctional facility, a hospice, and a transitional residential home in Luckenwalde—became Musethica concert venues for the first time and welcomed the artists with great openness and enthusiasm.“ (Musethica-Newsletter #6/25)

The Label writes about it: “Ying Wang’s RE:Wilding presents five works shaped by sonic precision, cultural awareness, and political urgency. Acoustic instruments and electronics coexist without hierarchy, exposing noise, fragility, and quotation as structural elements.”
