BETWEEN HOME AND HOMELESSNESS – RILKE IN SWITZERLAND

Together with Prof. Dr. Marcel Lepper, director of the Fondation Rilke in Sierre, Switzerland, Wiepersdorf Fellow Gunnar Decker presents his book “Rilke in Switzerland,” which has been published by Insel Verlag in September 2025. In 1919, the author of homelessness sought something in Switzerland that he had never had: a home. Yet Switzerland was anything but a land of longing for Rilke.

The discussion and reading will be accompanied by a musical program featuring Israeli soprano Einat Aronstein and Israeli composer and pianist Udi Perlman, both internationally renowned and regular performers at numerous festivals.

VOCAL MUSIC FROM UKRAINE
Public rehersal with the ensemble Alter Ratio

In a public rehearsal, the award-winning vocal ensemble Alter Ratio, conducted by Olga Prykhodko, will present works by Maxim Kolomiiets and Alla Zagaykevych, as well as a new piece by Oleksiia Suk, to the audience in Wiepersdorf.

GROUP FELLOWSHIP: JUNGE AKADEMIE WRITING WORKSHOP

Die Junge Akademie offers outstanding scientists and artists the opportunity to exchange ideas and pursue interdisciplinary projects together. This requires places of retreat.

From September 22 to 27, 2025, a group of eight members of the Junge Akademie met at Schloss Wiepersdorf to reflect on the role that language plays in academic and artistic practice. The topic of the writing workshop in Schloss Wiepersdorf therefore was “Invisible Work with Languages. Multilingualism and Translation in Science and Art.”

NEW BOOK:
GUNNAR DECKER: RILKE IN DER SCHWEIZ (RILKE IN SWITZERLAND)

Rilke and Switzerland – it wasn't love at first sight. On the contrary, the poet regarded the Alpine republic as an “antechamber of freedom, where one waited until one was called.” Gunnar Decker was Wiepersdorf Fellow in spring of 2025, and his book about Rilke and Switzerland has now been published by Insel Verlag.

CAFÉ, MUSEUM AND PARK

The café in the Orangery and the museum at Schloss Wiepersdorf are closed during the autumn and the winter time.

The castle park can be visited all year round. Thanks to our open air “Kosmos Wiepersdorf” you can walk a tour on your own and get information via QR Codes.
