Hyunju Oh (born in 1988 in Daegu, South Korea) studied painting, media art, experimental art, and sound art composition in South Korea, Germany, and Austria. She works in the fields of intermedia installation, performance, video, drawing, and photography in Frankfurt am Main.
Since 2017, Oh has been creating intermedia, immersive audio-drama installations that combine aspects and techniques of the narrative radio play and radio-based Ars Acustica with elements of the visual arts. With this concept, she has developed her own form of sound art and has been invited to international festivals and exhibitions: Saarländisches Künstlerhaus (E), Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden (E), Frequenz Festival 2022 (E), Opelvillen Rüsselsheim (E), Klangkunst in Industrie Kultur - Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain (E), DYSTOPIE Sound Art Festival 2020 Berlin, Kunstverein Ludwigshafen, Kunstverein Lübeck, Morat Institut Freiburg, basis Frankfurt, Wien Modern, Goethe-Institut Seoul, etc.
She has received grants from, among others, the Deutschlandstipendium, the Cultural Foundation of the State of Schleswig-Holstein, the Ministry for Family, Women, Culture, and Integration of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Hessian Ministry of Science, Research, Art, and Culture, the German Artists’ Association, the Rudolf Augstein Foundation, the De la Motte Music Foundation, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, and the Arts Council Korea.
