1 p.m. and 3 p.m. "Tuono del Cuculo" per sessanta detini gentili (UA)

Multimedia composition

Video: Sergey Khismatov and Anna Korsun, Music: Sergey Khismatov, Harpsichord: Ekaterina Polyakova

Location: Tankhalle

"Tuono del Cuculo" per sessanta ditini gentili ("Cuckoo's Thunder" for sixty delicate fingers) is a new multimedia composition for six harpsichords and video. The work is based on the pieces of baroque composers such as Rameau, Daquin, Kerll, Pasquini and J. S. Bach, as well as 20th century works such as Ligeti, disassembled and then reassembled by the composer like a Lego construction. Most of the selected pieces are related to the theme of "cuckoo". An entire cuckoo garden is created from the material of baroque music. From the overflows of the bird chorus and its echo, a rich texture is created, which can be compared to the reflection of a mirror in a mirror, with infinity. In this way, echoes of the baroque become audible in the modern language.

The sound is sent through the surround sound system, which is located around the audience. In the video, the viewer sees the ballet of 60 delicate fingers, which sometimes look like trees or flowers fluttering in the wind, algae floating in the water, or organisms from other inhabited planets. The composition lasts 50 minutes.

Painting on rice paper and photographs. Exhibition by Petra E. Thoss

On the other, they are devoted to an object that Thoss has been pursuing for many years: Shoes. Shoes on the feet of sensual goddesses, shoes in contrast or symbiosis with the environment - be it cultural or natural, shoes taking on a life of their own, on their way from the New World via Old Europe to the Orient.

1 to 5 p.m.

Exhibition London/Athens by Lloyd Corporation (Ali Eisa & Sebastian Lloyd Rees)

Location: Castle Square

London/Athens is a photographic series documenting informal messages and advertisements in the public spaces of both cities since March 2020. The photographs were taken on exploratory forays by the artists through the streets of their respective cities during the time of the Corona-related lockdown. The images show a variety of personal and political reactions to the new situation they have faced in the two cities in which they live. The exhibition will be on display through October 31, 2021.

Ali Eisa and Sebastian Lloyd Rees were fellows of the project "Art in a Conflicted World" of the Kulturstiftung Schloss Wiepersdorf, which was funded by the German Foreign Office in 2020.
