Silke Peters was born in Rostock in 1967 and grew up in Tressentin on the Recknitz. She studied mathematics and geography in Greifswald and worked as a teacher. She has been publishing literary works since 2000, creating texts that inhabit the space between poetry and prose. She lives in Stralsund.
She frequently collaborates with visual artists, a practice that sparked her interest in the materiality of script and led to a fascination with how surrounding materials are transformed through craftsmanship and cooking. These works are created for group exhibitions and social interventions.
She teaches creative writing and mentors women writers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. An allotment gardener, she writes a weekly blog titled Wir werden in Gärten leben (We Will Live in Gardens). At Wiepersdorf, she is revisiting her early readings on Romanticism.
