Dr. Ewa Wojno-Owczarska is a literary scholar and comparative literature specialist. In her publications, she examines literary discourses on catastrophe, including the climate crisis, critiques the economization of life in neoliberal economic systems, and explores the consequences of global globalization processes as well as their negative effects on culture and individual identity.

In her research, she focuses on the works of German, Austrian, and Swiss authors of the 20th and 21st centuries, particularly the writings of Kathrin Röggla. In addition, she examines the phenomenon of intermediality, including the relationships between text and music (poetry set to music and literary operas) as well as between literature and film (e.g., literary film style). Since 2016, Dr. Wojno-Owczarska has headed the Humboldt Network Topographien der Globalisierung/Topographies of Globalisation.
