NO SCRIBES

The Literary Girl Band live on stage (in German)
Authors Paula Fürstenberg, Alisha Gamisch, and Raphaëlle Red form a girl band: NO SCRIBES. In a literary show directed by Lena Brasch, they address issues of identity and class, girlhood, and (pop) feminism. The artists were hosted at Wiepersdorf with a group fellowship to prepare for the event.
Hardly any other pop culture phenomenon had as big an impact on the 1990s and 2000s as girl bands: three to five young women, usually cast, carefully put together according to different types, marketed as a projection screen for desire, identification, and empowerment. Between rebellion and mass appeal, they negotiated feminist sisterhood, body image, social advancement, and the question of who is allowed to stand on the big stage in the first place. But behind the glitz often lay exploitative structures, standardized role models, and power relations in an industry that swallowed up the collective just as quickly as it had staged it.
