Author and former Wiepersdorf Fellow Paula Fürstenberg will read from her new book, Niewiedervereinigung – 100 Zwischenrufe zur deutschen Einheit (Never Again Reunification: 100 Interjections on German Unity). In a series of essays, the author draws on her own biography as a child of the post-Reunification era to examine common narratives of German reunification, shed light on gaps in the narrative, and explore disappointments. She also addresses cultures of memory and the question of why she never actually wanted to write this book—and yet has written it now.
