From Court Ladies to the Coal Phase-Out – Perspectives on Historical and Cultural-Anthropological Research

What do historical place names, ladies-in-waiting, personal diaries, English travelers in Dresden, GDR garages, Sorbian Easter traditions, and Saxon mining have in common? They all represent different facets of the research conducted at the Institute for Saxon History and Folklore (ISGV) in Dresden.

As part of their residency at Wiepersdorf Castle, the ISGV team will provide engaging and entertaining insights into their research projects. These span from medieval village foundations and life at the electoral court in the Early Modern period to intangible cultural heritage and the current coal phase-out in Lusatia. In addition, the presentation will highlight the institute's services and extensive online databases.
