A conversation about the structure and dynamics of decay and confidence with the writers Jakob Kraner and Ann Cotten, in German language.

This event is about writing processes, the reasons for aesthetic production and the current social conditions for thinking and writing.

Jakob Kraner will read from his debut “Kosmologie” (Matthes & Seitz 2022) and excerpts from a prose work currently in progress. Among other things, he revisits the relationship between realism and abstraction, historical narrative and inner fantasy. Ann Cotten will present selected poetological-theoretical passages from her current project.

In a joint discussion, writing and thinking will then be considered, especially with regard to traditions of political surrealism, the political aspects of deconstruction and the time scales in which we spend our lives between reading and writing, the eternal now of emails and unstoppable global warming.
